Answer Digital is an Employee-Owned digital transformation consultancy headquartered in Leeds. We’re looking to recruit our first DevOps Academy of the year to join our existing Engineering community.

The Answer Digital DevOps Academy is a 12-week programme that equips people with the most contemporary technical skills and process understanding, and provides them with support to become a project ready Answer DevOps Consultant.

We have run Academies across all our tech and delivery teams for over 10 years and it’s a vital part of our businesses success - giving us a chance to tap into an incredibly diverse talent pool of people that are passionate about making software better for our clients.

The Academy combines structured training, self-learning and hands-on DevOps Engineering, all while giving you the opportunity to understand the role of a DevOps Engineer within an agile delivery context.

The programme also provides excellent mentorship from our team of digital experts, those on the Academy learn directly from those pushing the boundaries in live Answer projects.

Job Type: Academy DevOps Engineer

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire (Upon Academy graduation, role may include travel, if/when project requires it)

Salary: £27,500 (rising to £30,000 upon graduation of the Academy)

To be successful in this role:

• You will have a keen interest in cloud technologies, with a basic understanding of AWS services, including Lambda, to build cloud-native solutions.

• You will be excited about working on a variety of tools including Splunk for monitoring application performance and troubleshooting, Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and CloudFormation for resource deployment.

• You will also be excited by the opportunity to work in agile teams to deliver value to clients.

• You will have a passion for deploying, monitoring and maintaining software applications across multiple languages.

What will you learn on the DevOps Academy:

Upon completion of the DevOps Academy, participants will be equipped to deploy and manage cloud resources through practical application of contemporary tools and technologies. They will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the DevOps lifecycle, encompassing build, deployment, and monitoring phases, with a particular emphasis on the build pipeline via continuous integration, deployment via continuous deployment, and monitoring using current cloud tools.

Participants will develop proficiency in building and implementing Infrastructure as Code frameworks, adhering to best practices and established coding standards. This training will focus on facilitating collaboration between development and operations teams, effectively eliminating organizational silos.

Project Phase: Runs over 4 weeks where you'll gain valuable experience in a live Answer project environment. You will join an existing team working for a client on a real project as a DevOps Engineer.

Career Progression:

By graduating from the Answer Academy, you will be equipped to work as part of a live project.

This role will involve working in agile teams to deliver innovative solutions for Answer Digital’s customers. Our Academy graduates often progress at pace after completing this 12-week programme. We have seen one of our graduates progress from ‘Graduate’ to ‘Lead Consultant’ in just 3 years after 3 successive promotions! – And this isn’t an exception!
