Why did you choose Answer?

I'd heard good things about the Automation Testing Academy at Answer from previous successful graduates! I was impressed by the fast pace at which learning in the academy takes place and that you get structured training from experienced testers. There's independent implementation of concepts you've been taught, so you have a sense of ownership of your work, but there's always help on hand when you need it. There's a really positive vibe and it feels like everyone in both the test capability and the company is rooting for me and my success.

The company values are something that resonated with me as well. You can tell Answer is passionate about them from how they are front and centre of the business - they're even displayed on the walls of the office! I was keen to work in a true Agile delivery context and, before applying for the role, the values (particularly 'Be a catalyst for change' and 'Never stand still') made me feel like that was something Answer truly strives for, rather than simply paying lip service to. Since joining the Answer team, I've been proven right about this.

What did/ do you enjoy learning?

It might be cliché to say, but it's hard to choose - I've genuinely enjoyed all aspects of this training. If I had to pick one standout, I'd say learning about all the different tools and tech that automation testers use on a daily basis is really interesting. Also learning about the new technology in the field has been enjoyable. It's clear that the testers here are keeping their eyes peeled for the latest developments, adapting the academy programme to incorporate them. I think that checking out the most up-to-date test automation tools is really important and embodies the principles of Agile delivery and continuous improvement.

How is the Academy contributing to your career?

Before coming to Answer, I had spent three years as a manual tester. The Academy offering has allowed me to upskill rapidly and expand my knowledge of all things coding and automation. It has provided me with hands-on experience in creating and executing automated test scripts, utilizing industry-standard tools and frameworks, kickstarting a career in automation testing - a transition that wouldn't be possible without the training and guidance from Answer's test capability!
